Puray, together with Munich University of Applied Sciences, has been awarded a prestigious €300k grant through the DATI Pilot initiative by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This collaborative project will focus on advancing and validating Puray’s cutting-edge light-based disinfection technology, specifically designed for invasive medical devices like catheters.

Device-associated infections are responsible for 50-60% of all hospital-acquired infections, representing one of the most significant challenges in healthcare today. Traditional methods struggle to prevent the formation of polymicrobial biofilms, particularly those involving antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Puray’s photodisinfection technology offers a breakthrough approach by targeting and eliminating these biofilms, providing a potent solution to combat these pervasive issues.

This new partnership between Puray and the Munich University of Applied Sciences strengthens the development of this innovative technology, bringing them closer to providing an effective, technology-driven response to the growing threat of infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in medical environments. By joining forces, both parties are committed to improving patient safety and reducing the burden of hospital-acquired infections on healthcare systems globally.
